[COVID-19] Marketing Scams on Facebook
Many people use Facebook as a marketing and communication tool, and this has been highly successful. Also, many people use Facebook as a scam tool, and this is often highly successful too.
To know if an ad on Facebook is a scam or not, we can check how many posts there are or how many people like the page. But this may not be enough! So, we are guiding you as to how to know for sure if the page may be a scam.
When you see an ad such as ” we are not surviving due to the pandemic and everything is 85% off”, you might really want to buy it. But before doing so. Please follow the steps below first.
- Click into their Facebook Page
- While you scroll down, you will see a section called “Page Transparency” on the right hand side corner
- Click on “see more”
- Check if this page has a confirmed owner or not. Also, check when this page was created. If there is no confirmed page owner and the page was recently created, it is probably a scam page and you should report it.
During the pandemic, we have seen an increase in scams on Facebook. Please, always check the page transparency; especially if you think that what you see is too good to be true. If you are not 100% sure that the page is legitimate, do not buy anything from it.
